Superarticulated MOTU?
At last year’s SDCC there was this one lone He-Man figure on display in the Mattel booth. It sported DCUC-style superarticulation and was clearly a Four-Horsemen sculpt (like the old ill-fated 2001/2002 MOTU line). Fanboys kinda flipped out, then Mattel explained that it was just a prototype based off the old line and that they had no plans for a new MOTU line. Weird. Then why show it? Why add hyper-poseable articulation? The questions abound.
Well, now Mattel has tossed this oh-so-juicy nugget at us: at NYCC in April, they’ll be holding a special screening/panel celebrating the release of the 2002 MOTU animated series on DVD. At this screening, Mattel will also be revealing “brand new MOTU toy news!” Wowzers?! Well, maybe. Everything is speculation at this point. It could just be something lame like a two inch tall Battlecat that gets packed with the DVD or something. But, I prefer to hope that it’s that He-Man pictured above, and that he’s just the first of many superposeable 4H MOTU figs to be coming from Mattel in the near future! (a kid can dream, right?). Wow, i was fan of He-man when i was like 4 til now, but i really dont fell atracted to the 2002 line, but this looks freaking cool, imagine that He-man over a articulated battle-cat!!!!!
Hmmm. I’d be down for a superarticulated He-Man or Skeletor, but I wouldn’t be all that keen on a new MOTU line. Heck, I wasn’t even that into the last one — I only went for He-Man, Teela, and three Skeletors (namely because all of the local KBs had different ones in stock and I kept seeing color schemes I liked better) after they ended up on clearance. I dig the more classic appearance of this He-Man figure, though. Depending upon the price, I’d pick him up even if he weren’t superarticulated.
Wow! Superarticulated. I would love to see the creation of a “super-articulated”, SHE-RA. After all, the ideal of making the fugure as natually and gracefully, what collectors go for, She-ra allows for the enjoyment of beauty.
