What’s New at Retail - 03/11/08
Now is a good time to hit the road and do some toy hunting! (Well, gas prices permitting…) DCUC Wave 2 has officially shown up at retail. The entire wave was snagged by a lucky collector in Oregon. So, if you’re a west coaster, go check your Targets! If you’re an easterner (like me) it’ll probably be another couple of weeks on these.
The Iron Man movie toys have been showing up at Toys R Us stores around the country. In fact, most of the figs from the first series are in stock and available to order right now at toysrus.com. So, if you’d prefer to skip the gas-guzzling toy hunt and just order online, that’s a good place to start!
And, finally, it looks like Wal-Mart is finally starting to restock its barren post-Christmas toy aisles with some new 25th Anniversary GI Joes. The third wave of 2-packs (Ace and Wild Weasel, The Cobra Tomax and Xamot twins, etc.) are showing up in force now, as are the fifth and sixth waves of singles (Snow Job, Crimson Guard, Torpedo, Rock n Roll, etc). So, get out there and buy yourself some action figures!

Just thought you guys might like to know that I contacted corner store comics about my DCUC wave 2 case. I asked if they had an estimate being that they are on the west coast and the figures have already shown up at retail there. Apparently they didn’t even know the figures had shown up yet.
yeah, ETC said that their mattel rep is still saying the 31st for them. So I guess online stores aren’t going to be supplied in the first shipment. oh well. target is useless to me, so i have no choice but to wait.
There’s a Target like a mile away from my college campus but even if I were to buy them, I’d have to cancel my preorder and lose the 9 buck cancellation fee.
What sucks is what if you ordered the first shipments for Rhonnie firestorm and end up getting the Jason Firestorm from online stores….
Yeah that does suck because I want the classic firestorm not the new one…..
I went to my local Toys R Us and had in my hand the 12″ Iron Man then at the counter was told I could not purchase it because it was street dated for the 21st. I went home and checked out Toysrus.com and purchase the Iron man and the Iron Man Hall of Armor Superhero Squad set as well and it has shipped already.
i just shake my head because we’re running around chasing the latest thing and when this comes up, i pause and think, “another ‘must have?” with the halo craze sweeping the nation, my wallet and especially my shelves, need time to breathe. the bad part is that these figures look darn good!!
lantern, sounds like you got a bum TRU employee. You should email TRU.com customer service and explain what happened. you might get a free toy out of it!
plain_sliced, yeah i feel you on the cost thing. I’ve been trying to really curtail my toy spending of late. I’ve pretty much given up on GI Joes and with LCBH canceled and me pretty much just “cherry picking” Marvel Legends at this point, all I’m really buying is DCUC and Halo3. So, that’s not too bad.
