Where is HML4?
Or any Marvel Legends product, for that matter? HML2 came out in May of last year. The latest internet rumors have HML4 slated for May of this year. That’s one freakin’ wave in an entire year? Well, we got the HML Fantastic Four wave in there, but that was technically designed as a movie tie-in wave. So, that’s just one wave of Marvel Legends proper in twelve months. What’s up with that, Hasbro?
Granted, not all collectors (me especially) have been super-psyched about the quality of Hasbro’s product so far, but by not releasing anything for months on end they’re really killing the momentum of this line. The latest internet rumors are that after the Hulk waves shown at Toy Fair, Hasbro might just do a complete relaunch of Marvel Legends (probably in a 3 3/4″ scale). I hope that’s not true. I’m pretty sure it’s just wild speculation at this point, but in the interest of keeping some of the fan base at least mildly interested in the flagship product of the Marvel license that Hasbro spent hundreds of millions of dollars on, don’t you think they might find it a good idea to at least sling us a press release every couple months or something? Seriously.
I know everything Hasbro/Marvel Legends related has been all doom and gloom recently, but I’m really starting to get a bad feeling about the future of this line. I really hope that this awkward, silent hiatus is being put to good use by taking fans’ criticism and working toward improving product and reassessing the line to better meet consumers’ desires. But, in my gut, I think Hasbro is just deliberating on whether or not to pull the plug on ML and just use the license for nothing but movie toys. Sigh… I guess time will tell. A whole lotta time…

I’ve been wondering about this myself. They have been super slow and when something comes out, it isn’t very good. Having said that the prototype pictures for Series 4 looked much better to me. I actually got excited about Black Bolt, Astonishing Beast, and Daredevil. I still can’t believe that a Hasbro Exec. blamed poor sales and reception on Toy Biz “making all the good characters already”. I could make a laundry list of characters I’m still waiting for.
Modern Bucky Barnes
New Captain America
Ronin
Skrull Soldier
Sabastian Shaw
Starjammers
Emperial Guard (Gladiator)
Lilandara
Young X-Men
X-Factor
Wow I can name entire teams that haven’t even been touched. Hell I’d even buy and Aunt May (as long as she wasn’t dying)
Oh and one more request Hasbro:
How about an Emma Frost that looks like a woman….
yeah, Hasbro sucks, i want a sauron, starjammers, a hand ninja, Jim Lee Jean Grey, Jubilee, Lilandra, Gladiator, firestar, Winter Soldier, a Decent Bucky, Fabian Cortez, even vulcan and that new shi ar guy with the sword, the all freaking inhumans, the wrecking crew, sunspot, wolfsbane, strong guy, Madrox, syrin, karma, douglock, there is not even one stupid phalanx; and a lllooooooonnngggggg etc… so yeah Hasbro sucks a lot, actually the guy that said that “toy biz made all the good characters” must be sir sucks a lot… from Hasbro Kingdomshit
I mean yeah sure Toybiz made a lot of cool characters that collectors wanted, but we’ve already named enough characters to keep Hasbro busy for years (decades at the rate they are producing this line).
I too want a lot of the figures Mr. Cooltoy suggested. I mean we never got a standard Jean Grey figure, just Marvel Girl and Phoenix. I’d also like a modern Havok. Just think of how many figures Hasbro could sell if they would make a (decent) Madrox? I know I’d buy three and set them up in a upside down triangle so it would look like he split two copies out of himself.
And is it just me or does it seem that Hasbro can’t keep their scale? Some figures seem too small to go in the same line with others! For instance the Hydra soldiers head is twice as big as Astonishing X-Men Cyclops…….not cool…..and the Bucky figure looks like a Happy Meal toy.
I think the only thing Hasbro is good at figure wise are badly painted 3 3/4”, non articulated figures (see: Star Wars).
Hasbro is probably preoccupied with making those kickass TF Animated figures.
But you’re right — Hasbro obviously wanted the license to make other Marvel stuff (movie tie-in figures, not to mention the Super Hero Squad miniatures) and doesn’t seem to be as enthusiastic about the Marvel Legends figures. We’ll see how much longer they last.
I like the new Build N Brawlers from WWE. They are 3.5 Inches right? If Hasbro made the 3 inch legends super articulated it might not be so bad…provided they have all of the articulation as the regular ones. I would be OK with that but all the previous posts have nailed the point well. Plus I have dissed Hasbro enough in previous posts. There are so many characters Hasbro could do…they took out several really (potentially) nice figures from the Hulk series and what did they replace them with? Figures Toy Biz or even themselves had already made…oh I am not starting another rant…
I definetly wouldnt buy 3 inches fiugres, thats a jump to the 80s action figures, new action figures are 6 inches and with a decent amount of articulation, trying to be the most realistic and acurate as possible, look the spiderman 3 movie aciton figures, and the 3 axioms are broken. and besides, lots of collectors have made 6 inches match collection of action figures, like me with LCBH, marvel legends, street fighters, dc heroes and etc, why we should buy 3 inches figures???
Hopefully with the cancellation of Legendary Comic Heroes that Marvel Toys/Toy Biz will bring it back but still keeping Hasbro as licenser of movie toys, Superhero Sqaud, and Marvel Legends Unleashed lines
This just keeps getting better as I’ve just found out that my
most anticipated figure from this series (astonishing beast) has been cancelled. I wonder if marvel could let hasbro make all the crappy movie figures they want and give toybiz the ml back.
