Sneak Peek: Halo 3 Series 3

halo 3 series 3The line-up for the third series of Halo 3 figures from McFarlane Toys has been posted online for a while now, but the first teaser images have just shown up. I’m uber-excited about this line. It just seems to keep getting better! The third series will bring us yet another version of Master Chief, the “Hayabusa” armor spartan, a jackal major, a weapon class brute, a “recon” armor spartan, and a flood form. Super-neato! I hope the flood gets some artic though. In this pic he’s looking like a statue. Hmmm…

  1. I still havn’t picked up any of these figures because the scale/price ratio just seems expensive to me. I really want some of them though and that Jackal with the energy shield looks sweet. I’ll probably just end up getting the main characters from the game and skipping all the spartan variations unless they make something close to the multiplayer armor I use in the game lol.

  2. yeah, they are a little under-sized for the price, but the quality really makes up for it. plus, it looks like all action figures are gonna see a price hike this year (because of oil costs), so i think 6″ figures are gonna be in the 11-12 range now. that makes 10 for a 5″ fig more reasonable! McF is just ahead of the times! heh.

  3. I really hope 6 inch figures don’t go any higher, just a few years ago we could get good quality Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) with a build a figure piece, AND a comic book for under $9. If it does happen, I’m gonna have to cut back on my figure spending, which is at a minimum as it is (which is why I haven’t purchased any Halo Figs despite running into them several times).

  4. with DC and marvel iron man merchandise flooding the market, the hype over halo 3 seems to be getting lost.

series 1 rocks. series 2, cool. series 3, its starting to become old already. they just look like rehashes. another master chief? there one in each line?

reguardless that mcfarlane got in the game, there are some habits that just don’t die. the flood being a statue doesn’t surprise me.

  5. link

    Has anyone seen this yet?

  6. plain_sliced, I agree with you. These are great figures, and one of my favorite current lines, but I see it burning out quickly. You can only buy so many different color spartans before you lose interest. and if they move away from the articulation (like with the flood), then this line is all but done. it’s the quality and poseability of the figures that is pulling in non-Halo fans to buy these, and if that goes away, we go too. Realistically, I don’t see this line going much past series 3 anyway.

Jer, thanks for the link! I pre-ordered series 2 from Amazon a few weeks ago, but BBTS would also be a good place to lock them up. (CSC has them for preorder too) With as tough as some of these are to find at retail, online ordering is a no-brainer. I’m really liking the brute and drone in that series, and of course the new spartan armors!

  7. This series might last longer if they moved away from the thousand Spartan varations and made some of the other characters like Sgt. Johnson or Mirada Keys or even an oversized Hunter figure. Also, I know the series is called Halo 3, but I wouldn’t mind seeing some characters from the other games.
