Nope, still no pics of Hawkman or Mr. Miracle, but Action-Figure.com has posted a couple of new galleries of Waves 4 and 5. Wave 4 is Wonder Woman, Artemis (variant of WW), Batman Beyond, Cyborg, Captain Atom (w/ gold variant) and Ares with the Despero BAF. See great pics of those here. Wave 5 (Wal-Mart exclusive) is Eradicator, The Riddler, Black Lightning, The Atom and Amazo, with the Metallo BAF. Those pics are here. It’s been a slow news week, so I figured I’d link these up since I know we’re all pretty psyched for the upcoming figs in this line and you can never ogle enough production pics of new toys! So… enjoy!

MarvelousNews has posted high-res pics of all the figures from the upcoming Hulk Legends waves (both 1 and 2). I have to admit, while Foom is pretty solid looking as the BAF, these all seem, well, kinda crappy to me. Maybe it’s just that my Marvel Legends enthusiasm has soured and the price tag on these ($15 msrp) has really turned me off to them. Shrug. What do you guys think?

I got a hold of two of the four turtles from NECA’s first series of new TMNT figs… and man, I’m really liking them! I’ve got the partial review up (Leo and Mike) in the Indie section. So click over to read my geeky thoughts about how awesome these are!

I’m late posting about this, so I’d imagine it’s “old news” to many of you. But, the Masters of the Universe cat is officially out of the bag. The rumors were true - Mattel and the Four Horsemen are resurrecting this property and bringing a collectors-focused mass-market MOTU line to retail next year. Oh yes. No word yet on who exactly we’ll be seeing in the first wave of “Masters of the Universe Classics”, but I’d wager He-Man’s a sure bet. And since this is a collector-oriented line, it won’t suffer the ill fate of the 200X MOTU line that was plagued with nonsensical He-Man repaints and terrible distribution. Hurray for Mattel and the 4H! And oh yeah, that sexy half-naked barbarian to the left is “King Greyskull”, this year’s SDCC exclusive. Hawt.

Okay, fellas. Get ready to pick your jaws up off the floor. If ever there were a “toygasm” moment - this is it. Mattel announced the line-ups for the next couple of waves of DCUC. And great googly-moogly is the upcoming year going to be a great one for DC fans! Expand the post to see the full list of upcoming sweetness. (more…)

Okay, the first bit of news from NYCC has trickled in, and it’s Marvel related. Guess what?! Marvel Legends is NOT canceled! Guess what else? The Nemesis wave - wave 4 - is now a Wal-Mart exclusive and won’t be available until December (Bah?!). In even less understandable news, HML5 will consist of Red Hulk, Spiral, Adam Warlock, Union Jack, Silver Savage Silver Surfer, Black Spider-Man, and Wolverine Black. And it will be a… Target exclusive! And available in September. So, in summary: Wave 4 - Wal-Mart, December. Wave 5 - Target, September. Nice work, Hasbro! WT-everloving-F?! (more…)

Well, NYCC hasn’t even come and gone yet, but we’re already gearing up the anticipation for the next big toy show. This year the Wizard World Convention takes over Philadelphia, and the change of scenery is bringing with it some pretty exciting new stuff. The con is from May 30th to June 1st and will feature the first ever ToyFare “Hall of Fame” awards. Basically, they’re gonna take some time to thank the guys behind the toys that we love so much. Among the honorees will be NECA’s Randy Falk and the Four Horsemen themselves! With how much NECA and the 4H have been doing lately to “advance” the action figure industry, I find it really fitting that these guys get some extra recognition for what they do! Expect plenty of coverage of WW Philly and rambling nonsensical gushing from me come June 1st. And expand the post to see the full press release from Wizard. (more…)

NY Comic Con kicks off today, and the Four Horsemen (aka - superheroic action figure design celebrities) have issued a little advanced press release to get us all excited for their showing at the con. They have good news for those us who are still waiting on the FANtastic Exclusive 2 “Anitherian Nine” figures - they’re almost here! And the 4H will be unveiling the first figure from their latest fan-choice “Gothitropolis” series. And, since the 4H are the guys who make all our awesome DCUC and TMNT figs, I’m sure they’ll have lots of other cool stuff to show too (including some rumors surrounding new Master of the Universe merchandise… Hmmmmm…)
For those of you who aren’t terribly familiar with the 4H or their “Fantastic Exclusives”, expand the post for my summary. (more…)

Oh my… So, apparently after the fall of ToyBiz/Marvel Toys, NECA has decided to step up and carry the torch of the superarticulated action figure! Evidently, their super-poseable TMNT line wasn’t an anomaly. Check out this fantabulous prototype of Ryu from their upcoming Ninja Gaiden line! (How does AFI keep getting all these great scoops?!) Does that articulation look familiar to you? Double knees, double elbows, ab crunch, ball hips, ball shoulders - he’s got it all… ToyBiz style! Man… I am REALLY liking how the specialty companies are stepping up the articulation on their figures. Now is a great time to be an action figure collector!
And, today kicks off NYCC, so I’m betting we’re going to be seeing lots of exciting new product from NECA and other companies like them. w00t!

Man, AFI is getting all the good scoops! NY Comic Con is just around the corner (starts tomorrow!) and Mattel is doing a heck of a job of generating buzz by releasing advanced images of new characters to be included in the DCUC line. We just saw Lightray a couple days ago, and now AFI has posted pics of Amazo! I have a feeling that Mattel’s showing at NYCC is going to knock our socks off! I can’t wait!
