My case of the Series 1 regulars showed up from CSC yesterday, so I busily spent my Tuesday evening snapping pics and writing reviews! Click over to the Indie section to check out Apollo, Hot Dog, and both versions of Six. w00t!

Wow. I didn’t see this one coming. Action Figure Insider has scooped the latest release from Mattel for inclusion in the DCUC line and it’s… Lightray!? Bah?! I know very little about this character, other than that he belongs to the “New Gods” pantheon. Guess I’m gonna have to do some Google research! There’s no word yet as to when or where we’ll see him. I’m guessing this is just a teaser for NYCC which is this weekend. I’m all atwitter with anticipation!

Admittedly, I don’t really know what Attacktix is and I didn’t bother to google it. I guess it’s some kind of heroclix type board game? In any event, I received an email from the fans of Attacktix asking me (as the prestigious administrator of an oh-so-awesome toy news site) to spread the word about their petition to save this line, which apparently has been put on “hiatus” by… you guessed it, Hasbro! Did you guys know that Diamond Select Toys is making superarticulated Battlestar Galactica figures?! I didn’t until recently. In fact, it’s only been in the last couple of weeks that I started watching the show and I’m completely hooked. So, naturally, I just had to hunt down the figures. I’ve got pics and reviews up for the exclusives from Series 1 here. I’m anxiously awaiting the rest of Series 1 to arrive from CSC some time next week. Yay!

Good grief! Spawn.com just put up the full coverage of series 3 of their Halo 3 line - complete with a full listing all the different Spartan armor permutations, paint colors, and store exclusives. It’s a tad overwhelming (14 different Spartans, 11 of which are exclusives…)! The standard figures will include a new Brute “War” Chieftain, the Jackal Major, the Flood, yet another Master Chief, and the first Elite Multi-Player fig. But beyond that, we’ll see hoards of Spartans. Hoards!
There’s really no sense in me even trying to list all the different armor types and colors. You’ll just have to click the link. The bummer is that several of these are going to difficult (impossible) to get. Especially the international exclusives that won’t be available in the U.S. It’s like McFarlane is just trying to make this line frustrating for completists!

Okay, this is interesting. And I think it’s a trend we’re going to start seeing a lot of. A couple months ago, Mezco unveiled the first series of Hellboy 2 movie figs. They were six inch scale and superarticulated, as we’ve come to expect from the “standard” action figure these days. Now, Mezco is showing off a secondary, 4″ line that is essentially just a scaled-down version of the bigger figs. TNI has the pics of all the figures in the new, smaller line. (more…)

Well, this isn’t much of a surprise, but Hasbro has canceled all orders of the fifth and sixth series of Icons figures to online stores. Hasbro isn’t very forthcoming with information, so we’ll have to take this as a pretty strong indication that the Icons line is done. The fifth series would have given us Daredevil and Nightcrawler, while the sixth was slated to bring Colossus and Jean Grey. I didn’t really care that much for the Icons scale, but I definitely would have picked up that Nightcrawler. Oh well. (more…)

Hasbro has put out small promo images of the line-up for the ninth series of single packed figures in the GI Joe 25th Anniversary line. We’ll be getting General Hawk (in his classic bomber jacket), Barbecue, Bazooka, Snow Serpent, Cobra B.A.T., and a black Storm Shadow repaint dubbed “Ninja Ku”. This is a pretty solid assortment that features several “must haves” for a lot of Joe fans. But, since we’re only just now seeing the sixth wave at retail, I’m assuming these guys are still several months out. Expand the post for the pics. (more…)

I finally got my hands on DCUC Wave 2 (Thanks, CSC!). I’ve been hard at work spending most of my Saturday updating both this site and DCUniverseClassics.com. You can check out the SuperArticulated entry here, or visit DCUC.com and browse through the more intensive coverage (more pics)! w00t!

So, I strolled into Wal-Mart last night to pick up some groceries (chocolate milk and fruity pebbles, to be exact) and as I swung by the barren toy aisle, I noticed something startling. The lone GI Joe 25th Anniversary single carded Roadblock that has been hanging there for months was tagged as “6.84″ on the peg. I figured he was just misplaced and Wal-Mart was prepping to reset the aisle or something. But, I read the peg, and it clearly said 25th GI Joe. Hmmm… So I snagged Roadblock and took him to one of those little scanner things they have at the end of the aisle. Yep. He rang up for 6.84! Just last week this very same figure was $5.48, and a couple months before that single figs were only $4.76 at Wal-Mart. That’s a 40% price increase in less than a year! (more…)
