New DCUC Pics!
Mattel has released promo pics of all the figures from Wave 4, Wave 5, and the first set of TRU exclusive 2-packs and TNI has them all! There’s nothing here we haven’t seen before, but I still get excited every time I see a new set of pics of these figs. You can see Wave 4 here, Wave 5 here, and the 2packs here. w00t!

I want to just take a moment and restate my annoyance at the two packs. I mean I am not so angry about having to buy another Orion but they should have made his helmet removable in the first place and given us Kalabak or however you say/spell his name. Or High Father, or someone else.
The real pisser though is the Batgirl travesty. I mean why re-release Azrael and Barbara Gordon when Cassie whatever her name is got such a poor release along with other Batman regulars Two Face and MANBAT!
This is just me complaining because I didn’t get my toys and I am like a child, I don’t expect any condolences or explanations…Unless someone knows when they might re-release these two.

Between spotty 2packs (yeah, I want LightRay but not for $20 along with a helmetless Orion) and exclusive Walmart waves (let’s see how lousy that’s distributed) I suspect my DCUC days may be numbered. If I can’t get that Walmart wave easily then I’m out. I’ve only stayed in the game this long because I get my waves delivered from CornerStoreComics for not much more then regular retail.
Andrew - I agree that the babs/az 2pack is a bit of a dud, but i’m guessing mattel has plans to issue more of these releases so they’re just sorta dragging it out with one sought-after fig plus one fig that everyone already has. i’m psyched enough about lightray that i’lll put up with the extra orion for it, but yes, 2 unique figs would have been preferable.
Rich - I have series 5 on order through CSC. I’m pretty sure you can still get the retailer exclusives through online stores.
Ok So everyone talks about how they ordered the line online. And it gets me curious, but how sure are you that the toys wont be damaged when getting shipped? or if they were already messed up before they shipped them? Meaning If seen a lot of DCUC toys with bad paint, or like the “ear” on Orions Helmet is slanted. As you can tell I never have ordered toys online. And maybe its because I love the search maybe to me its the fun part of collecting toys. IDk. what do you people think?
I love to search for toys too, I make the rounds every week, but hearing folks bemoan the disasterour distribution that was Mattel’s MOTU series and knowing first hand how little I saw DCSH Azrael or Mr. Freeze on the retail shelves prompted me to go with an online vendor. I enjoy the hunt but not the frustration of not finding something that’s not supposed to be a “chase” figure. If I got a bum figure from the online vendor then I would just put it back in its package and then if/when I found it at TRU I would buy it at retail and then use the receipt to return the messed up one. I would tell the clerk that it’s messed up so that it would get shipped back to Mattel to eat. Win-win-win. I win by getting a decent figure and not losing money in the process and Mattel gets their defective product back as a heads up to step up their Quality Control. I got Series 2 weeks ago from CSC and haven’t seen it at retail yet! That prompted me to pre-order series 3 already. SAG- check CSC because now they list the following for Series 5 pre-orders: “Due to stupid practices beyond our control, Wave “5″ is now a Wal-Mart exclusive. All Wave 5 pre-orders are now “Wave 6″ orders, since no lineup had been announced.” STUPID PRACTICES indeed. That’s why I love CornerStoreComics!!!!!!!!!!
Ha ha! Oops! Thanks for righting me about series 5 through CSC. heh. I don’t even know what I’m buying from them! That’s actually a big disappointment. I was hoping to avoid having to search for these at retail at all… oh well.
George - I’ve gotten to the point where I preorder just about everything. I’ve been lucky and haven’t gotten any bad figs yet. When you buy a case from a place like CSC you get a fresh unopened case straight from the manufacturer, so the odds of something being damaged are slim. If you get a fig that’s defective, just do what Rich said and hang onto it until you see one somewhere local then buy and exchange the bad one.
Yeah, George, I have to say that even though I have a gameplan in case I get a bum figure from an online vendor, I haven’t had to implement it yet. Granted I don’t get over picky about paint apps, like Red Tornado’s reported stray lines. I don’t get too worked about inspecting paint on every action figure. I save that effort for the occassional statue or maquette, not $10 action figures so much.
these look like a lot of good looking figures, and i am knee jerking if i say my wallet will be drained and my shelves will be over crowded, but honestly, when is too much too much? i’m kind of glad they are marketing these guys all spread out. it was hard to get ahold of the clayface wave, now specific store exclusives? what if we don;t have a TRU? no figures for me. i can live with that. it keeps me from overspending.
but overall, nice lot. i prefer the kirby DC direct maskless orion that looks like a caveman over the pretty boy offered. wonder woman could look better as well. my whine and 2 cents.
I have often wondered what would happen if I did get a bad figure or broken piece etc from Cornerstore…I thought I would try the taking it back to a Toys R Us and exchange if possible but to tell the truth it has not been an issue yet, not from CornerstoreComics.
I don’t know that they would help if it ever did happen cause as SAG said they ship the boxes as they recieve them. Or how they recieve them…what SAG said!
Anyway, I know this about Cornerstore…I say only good things about them and they are very friendly over the phone etc. but if you order from them be sure you want what you order and don’t try to cancel yer order or they will try to make you pay a restocking fee. I am sure other stores do this and it should be a nonissue for collectors like ourselves who get everything anyway. Just FYI.

Rich- That Wal Mart line better be easy to find I agree! It may have been SAG but I read that that series would be “available” throughout the year. I have seen no sign of them yet.
I am a little worried about the Wonder Woman/Artimes leg/thigh articulation. Those new pics…they still have no twisty point and the legs look different near the Star underwear too.
ANDREW…”available” throughout the year obviously means starting in August…that is what a read…somewhere…I had the same issues with WW and artemis…But in the Pics that were shown from the Comicon they did have the twisty point, and the joints do look different near the underpants as well…But we must remember that these ARE PROTOTYPES. Surely they will be perfect by realse date. Look at the ML Series 14. Prototypes: Awesome. Actual Product: Less than Perfect.
Okay…bad example…Hopefully the actual product will be much better.
plain_sliced…WW looks awesome…Orion should have two heads: Meesed up and pretty boy, since it would be Comic Accurate…LOL
