Featured Custom: Batman

custom marvel legends style batman by DDAUber-talented customizer DDA submitted this little Batman work of art. I have a bit of a soft spot for any/everything Bats-related, so this custom is a knock out of the park for me. In DDA’s own words: “I’ve been a fan of Batman from a very early age and so when I got in to customizing action figures the natural thing to do was to make LOADS of batman figures. The figure that is on show now is my most recent and one of my favorite customs to date.” Nice work, DDA. It’s one my favorites as well! The base is a TBML Face-Off Punisher body with a DCD Hush Batman head with belt and boots from Mattel’s DCSH Batman. When you expand for more pics, you’ll see that DDA has this Bats custom up against a modified Bane with ball hips and an excellent modern Robin custom! If you want to see more of DDA’s work, check out his custom thread at TheFwoosh or his gallery at FigureRealm.

  1. this is a beautiful batman custom. there are som many out there by very talented customizers, and yet i don’t think i’d ever get tired of seeing so many variations. i hope some day, we’ll get a perfect batman the way we got the mcfarlane spiderman. my question is; what artist’s interpretation of batman would be the perfect batman?

  2. oooh. good question, PS. I know I’m in the minority on this, but I’ve always been a big fan of Jim Lee’s Hush look. I guess that’s why I’m so fond of the DCSH Series 3 Bats. It’s the closest thing I’ve got to that look.

  3. that’s also my perfect interpretation; jim lee’s hush batman.

  4. Gahh, that is a tough question. Jim Lee’s Hush version is great, but there are a lot of artists who draw Bats really well — I quite like McGuinness’s interpretation as well. Given how bulky he draws his heroes, though, that may not work out so well for a superarticulated figure (or even a DCD one, as some of the joints are on the Superman/Batman figs are more limited than usual). Is there an artist who draws a terrible Batman?

Anyway, this is a fantastic custom. I think I’ve seen DDA’s stuff on TheFwoosh before — he does indeed do excellent work. :) I don’t even hate ball hips when I look at his stuff!
