New Marvel Legends 2-Packs Pics

hasbro marvel legends forge wolverine two packMarvelousNews has some new packaged pics of the upcoming Marvel Legends 2-packs from Hasbro. The first assortment will be Forge and Wolverine, Elektra and Ronin, and Ultimate Captain America and Nick Fury. While they’re not perfect, I’m liking these sets. I’m not a big fan of swappable hands and heads on action figures, but at this point I’d far prefer accessories like these to a crappy BAF part. If Hasbro were to do away with the numbered BAF series releases altogether and just put out these two packs, I think I’d be okay with that. I’d still like to see some paint detail though!

  1. Must Get Nick Fury! And that Elektra is looking better then the subpar Toybiz offering from a few years back. You know, the one with the wonky hips. Looks like I want a MLBucky after all to go with that Capt America. I only waded half way into the ML Queen Brood series and Bucky was in the half I didn’t get. Did get 2 Marvel Girls though- the decent regular one and the smokin’ variant repaint. Who says Hasbro doesn’t know how to paint MLs??

  2. ooh, better pics HERE
And yes, rich, i do rather like that marvel girl variant

  3. although we need a forge, seeing its hasbro, i’ll pass. its usually the promo pics that look good, and we end up with less than satisfactory products; but what does it say about a figure’s promo pic that looks like the finished product- what’s the final item going to look like? pass.

  4. That Wolverine sucks. Forge looks okay, and I’d really like to have a Forge but I’m forced to buy a crappy Wolverine. Oh well, maybe I can snag Forge on ebay. Elektra and Ronin look okay, and I never got the Toybiz Elektra so I might actually get that. Not much for the Ultimate Nick Fury, the figure looks okay but I never got the Toybiz Fury so I’d rather get one of those off ebay. Cap looks stupid. Did they scrap the Mr. Fantastic and Thing two pack? Doesn’t really matter, they looked horrible anyway. What about that Skrullektra variant? I really want that!

  5. All these look better than past Hasbro releases but I STILL think they look like HAPPY CRAPPY MEAL toys!!!!!!! lol lol

Did you see Captain America’s teeth paintjob. He looks like Dracula or he got a bunch of his teeth knocked out and is pissed.

Nick Fury and Forge look ok but all these these really have to get some paint on them.

If you google “Hasbro McDonald’s”…..you’ll find that they’ve worked together. lol…..man Hasbro is pathetic. They should just stick to GI Joes, Transformers and whatever crap they put out there. Hell, even Takara makes better transformers than them. …So actually they should just stick to GI JOES….but then again, any company would do a lot better at GIJOES than them.

Hasbro has crappy figures, Mattel has crappy distribution….I wonder if there’s every been a toy company that “get’s it”. Wow.

Sorry, I’m frustrated at the fact that June is almos over and still no sign of Jason Rusch Firestorm.

  6. you know, chris, you make a good point.

hasbro has me duped! these are a step up from what they’ve been releasing so i’m looking at them and thinking, “hey, not bad.” but if you compare them to anything else coming out these days they’re still cartoony looking little chunks of plastic.

sigh. this line has kind of become an albatross. i don’t want to drop it altogether because there are still characters i want to add to my collection. forge was very near the top of my wants list so that’s a good one to cross off. but the line just feels unstable and what’s coming out isn’t sharp enough to regain my interest or enthusiasm.

i’m curious to see what hasbro has to show at SDCC next month. they showed so much “good” stuff at NYCC in february but none of that has actually hit retail yet… I remain skeptical.

  7. I still say that in the time we live in distribution shouldn’t be an issue. Between CSC, BBTS, and ebay, you can get the figures. The case of DCUC I ordered from CSC only cost about three more dollars than buying them in a store, except I didn’t have to search for them and burn $4 gas.

  8. Exactly! That’s why I think Mattel should just sell this stuff online if they’re so spotty with distributing this stuff to target or walmart or any other store.

Distribution is an issue to those who shop at those stores and expect them to be in those stores.

With gas on the rise, they would be smart to make these online exclusives. At least that would be my opinion. The ONLY bad thing is that (again, in my aopinion and many others) I think their Quality Control sucks. So I think they would have a TON of pissed off customers who wouldn’t be able to return faulty figures and be stuck with a broken figure. Not only that, a lot of ppl comment on the bad paint jobs and those picky collectors (like myself) wouldn’t be able to chose from multiple figures at a store unless they bought multiple cases at an online store.

Again, I think SAG should have a serious talk with these guys.

  9. BTW, I’d rather buy a SAG custom figure than a happy crappy meal hasbro toy!

    DOWN with Hasbro!!!!!

  10. Oops that didn’t sound like a compliment…I meant I’d rather buy a SAG custom made Forge than that hasbro Forge.

  11. Well any product is going to have some bad apples that come off the line. I’ve been lucky that my DCUC have been spot on, even my Red Tornado. The paint job is perfect, but I have seen some photos online of a really bad Red Tornado. Anyway at least DCUC doesn’t have a faulty/return rate like Xbox 360! ZING! And just so you know, I’m and Xbox fan, but I am waiting on my second replacement to arrive in the mail (that’s my third console!).

  12. well, i’ll certainly be repainting my forge when i get him. so if you guys wanna commission to slop some washes on these fix, well, then by all means!

i had quite a few bum figs from the first series of dcuc, but i had no problems with series 2 in terms of breakage or quality control. so maybe things are improving… somewhat.

if someone wants to buy me a plane ticket to san diego for sdcc i’d be happy to head out there and give scott neitlich (mattel’s sr brand manager for the dc line) a stern talking to!

hasbro, however, i think is a lost cause. they don’t even listen to themselves.

  13. also, it would appear that the HML Hulk series is out. A guy over at thefwoosh found wendigo and hulk the end at a TRU in san diego. here’s the post:

    link

I didn’t want to post about it until i was really sure he’s legit, but he posted a pic that seems to show them standing on his kitchen counter. so i’m not sure what further proof i’m looking for. heh. just seems weird that they’d hit retail before they show up for pre-order anywhere online.

  14. Those Hulk figures haven’t even been listed at Hasbro’s own online shop yet. Hasbro is ponderous. We’re up to our eyeballs in some Marvel figures (ML1 and ML2 were fairly plentiful) and amazingly shortshipped on other Marvel figures (I never saw the following at retail: FF Namor, 3 3/4″ titanium IronMan, mini titanium Ghost Rider, etc, etc). I’m just going with online vendors for Marvel, DC, MOTU, Hellboy, etc). I’ve had better luck with Hasbro’s online shop for most of their Marvel offerings that I’ve wanted (and I haven’t wanted much!). Retail support just isn’t there for the demand in my area and its too dang expensive for me to drive all over. I used to be able to make the rounds and find stuff (Marvel, DC) but not anymore!!

  15. i’m with Chris’ comments about captain america. i laughed my head off. i thought the same thing about the head. the head with the helmet looks cheesy at best. the helmetless head looks dorky. this is suppose to be captain america; mister perfect, and he looks like a doofus? that’s laughable. too funny, Chris. good one.

  16. Thanks Plain Sliced!

What do you guys think about the Marvel Select figures of Ironman, Thor, New Cap America and Hulk?

I think I’m going to make them my Marvel Legends replacements. Except for the Hasbro joints on Hulk for example….they look pretty detailed in terms of paint and sculpt.

Do you guys think Marvel Select can replace the Happy Crappy meal toys of Hasbro? Just wondering what your thoughts are.

Lastly, I would give you a ticket and pay for a SAG forge but gas here in California is around 4.89!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So i’m broke and I now have chosen the life of a hermit.

  17. Also going off topic but SAG you should make a WHAT ACTOR SHOULD PLAY CAPTAIN AMERICA in Captain America the first averger movie? poll/discussion.

Channing Tatum’s young and not a A lister and (I think) not really a fantastic actor but he does have the look for Cap America. I think he just acts like he’s Tyler Gage from Step Up in ALL his movies but he does sort of look like a young Cap America.

Any other actors u guys can think of? I hear Leonardo DiCaprio is of interest to Marvel for playing Cappy.

  18. also, why isn;t anyone talking about the new hellboy 2 mezco figures?

back to semi-topic, i will stick to my old school toybiz iron man, cap, thor. there is yet to be a definate hulk. FO hulk win for me because it doesnt have ab joint. come one, toybiz, no ab joint on the best hulk?

  19. I don’t think theres an ab joint on that Marvel Select hulk, plainsliced. I think it looks a lot better than any previous hulks…although FO was pretty good….I just hate his hands…they’re akward looking like he’s all figity.

  20. oh, plain_sliced, you better believe I have a set of those hellboyII figs on order at my lcs. I’m just waiting for them to show up.

you wouldn’t wanna send me one of those hot topic Winks you picked up, wouldja?!

  21. drop me a PM at fwoosh.

  22. dropped!

  23. SAG I would totally pay for you to paint my Forge. Are those Hellboy figures yu guys are talking about for the move or comics?

  24. dude, i’ll paint your forge. no worries.

the hellboy figs we’re talking about are the new hellboy2 movie figs. my set is scheduled to arrive on the 3rd, so expect a july 4th hellboy review extravaganza. heh.

  25. I for one am just looking forward to getting a new Elektra. I have the REALLY OLD ML Elektra, but they went TOO articulation crazy to the point where it doesn’t even look good. I’m hoping the softer features of this new figure will be better for appearance’ sake.

  26. i know this is petty but i hate interchangeable limbs because when im displaying my figures i like everything that comes in the box to be displayed i dont like throwing spare weapons limbs etc in a drawer!(i know how pathetic is that)
