Mattel Online Store Coming Soon!
Ooh, so the news broke this morning direct from the Toy Guru himself. The Monday after SDCC, Mattel is launching a new Collectors Website with news, reviews, pics, and previews of all their merchandise… and you’ll be able to buy their action figure exclusives there! Hurray! So for those of us who don’t make it to SDCC, this is a chance to pic up Lobo and that King Greyskull He-Man fig. Oh, and the real kicker - the Mattel Online Store will be the exclusive home of the new Masters of the Universe line, with one new fig being made available each month. I, for one, think that’s a brilliant plan. It’ll be like having a monthly action figure mail-order subscription! Now let’s just hope this is successful enough for Mattel that they’ll offer sets of DCUC direct order. That would be a dream come true! Get more details here.

Oh, and since I’m sure it will come up, there’s been no mention yet as to whether this store will be shipping internationally. but mattel has said in the past that they’re committed to supporting international collectors, so i guess we’ll just have to wait and see at SDCC what the specifics are.
I’ve got tears of joy in my eyes! I figured Lobo and King GreySkull were gonna go the route of DCSH Cyborg Superman in my collection. I hope they pull this site off as I’ll be supporter as long as they keep the 4H on their projects. If anyone is ahuntin’ the Grodd series of DCUC, Cornerstorecomics.com is taking a 2nd round of orders for their next pending shipment. That series has been rare on the retail shelves. CSC is my primary go-to and this new Mattel site could be a nice backup to supplement the regular releases.

I’m super excited about the online store. I’d like to have that Lobo, but doesn’t $25 seem a bit steep for one figure? I really hope they decide to carry DCUC in the online store. I already have series 3, 4, and 6 preordered from Corner Store Comics, but I’d really like to see the Mattel Store carry the “Wal-Mart Exclusie Wave” being that my Wal-Mart still has HML Banshee and Legendary Comic Book Heroes hanging on the pegs. Seriously, the Wal-Mart I work at won’t dedicate any “Mark Down Money” to the toy department and stuff that has been sitting on the pegs for years continues to collect dust. Someone in another thread mentioned finding the Conan/Wraal two-pack for $10, well it’s still $17.83 at my Wal-Mart haha.
that is great news. its almost too good to be true, but mattel hasn’t shafted the DC buyers the way hasbro has. one of us probably got into the marketing department, because such an innovative idea couldn;t have come from suit & tie execs. this is indeed a victory for us. finally.
Forget the exclusives — I want to be able to buy the regular figures there! Since, y’know, DCUC2 still hasn’t shown up at my local Target. What’s up with that, Mattel?
I do like the idea of one MOTU figure being released per month, though — provided that those bad boys don’t cost too much. If they’re in between the $10-$15 price range, though, that could become like a monthly bill.
I think this is a great idea! Unfortunately, the only downside I think is their quality sucks and how is one to return a defective item? Hopefully they have a return policy.
CSC says that Jason is still coming. Bigbadtoystore and Entertainment Earth got their cases in of Rhonnie and those were the LAST batches. Jason cases are still coming. Says CSC. Just thought I’d share this since there’s been word that Jason is canceled.
