What’s New at Retail - 07/12/08
I guess now is a good time for a sightings post since we’re experiencing some kind of a “perfect storm” of action figure releases at retail. You know about the new Hellboy figures, obviously, but what else is out there? Expand the post to find out!
Marvel Legends Hulk series with Fin Fang Foom BAF - Yep. These have been showing up at TRUs and Wal-Marts for a few weeks now, so they should be out in full force by this point. There have been some isolated sightings at Targets, but I’d say your best bet is with Toysaurus or Wally World.
Also, the new two-packs have just started showing up; the Ultimate Cap and Nick Fury, Elektra and Ronin, Wolvie and Forge, and Thing and Mr. F sets. So far I’ve only heard of them being found at Wal-Mart.
The Dark Knight Movie Masters Wave 2 - Yep. This is the series with the Scarecrow and the Batman Begins version of Batman. I’ve been hunting these pretty aggressively for the past week with no luck. So far, Wal-Mart seems to be the place to find these.
Halo 3 Series 2 - My enthusiasm for this line has really waned in the long gap since series 1 was released but I got my Gamestop exclusive steel colored ODST Spartan in the mail the other day and it sucked me back in. These are showing up at Gamestops, Wal-Marts, and TRUs nationwide.
GI JOE - The 9th series of single packs with Barbecue, Bazooka, Snow Serpent, General Hawk, and the Cobra B.A.T. is out. I’m pretty psyched for this wave. It’s a good line-up and it’s full of personal favorites from the Joe-verse.

I live in Southern California and I’m sad to say that the only figures you have listed here that can be found around here are the Halo 3 series 2 figures. I can’t wait for the new wave of Movie Masters Batman Begins and Scarecrow and the Red Hulk BAF series!
well, you’re doin’ better than me then, because i haven’t found ANY of that stuff… i’d be thrilled with some halo 3 figs…
I contemplated on whether or not I should pick up Arbiter and the Brute (No ODST yet =/) but I had just gotten Wink and HB and I didn’t really want to spend more money today.
I guess collecting dc universe classics is just a legend that blew into the wind, I want the movie masters line….:(

no kidding. DC stuff is a myth here too. i’m not holding my breath on this line. target is by far the poorest stocker of new figures. they seem to perhaps get one case of figures, and pat themselves on the back.
walmart went from having everything you need at a good low price to ’screw all of you. you’ll pay what we tell you to pay for, for the junk we choose to put out.’ the best bet for me has been to get everything trading from other collectors or bite the bullet and buy online.
our walmarts are littered with indiana jones stuff, hulk stuff, the skittles ‘every color & flavor’ batman stuff, and lots of kiddie transformer stuff. nothing on sale or clearance like in the good on’ walmart days.

I’ve found all sorts of goodies at TRU lately: new Joes, the 4 new Joe vehicles, the Mezco HBs, animated transformers, Transformers Universe Classics- which we’ve been waiting on for 18 months. No MLs or Batman movie masters though. I haven’t seen MLs anywhere. I haven’t seen DCUC anywhere (but I got my Grodd series 2 from CSC online). KMart had tons of the new Batman movie masters (including lots of Jokers) so that may be worth a stop.
Ooops….I forgot to say that I found DCUC WAVE 2 at WALMART for $11.88 each.

that’s really encouraging. it’d be nice if wal-mart would stock up on both series 2 and 3 when the next wave comes out. because i’m sure there are many of us who have yet to find all of wave 2 at retail…

Wal-Mart selling DCUC for $11.88? Way to “roll back” those prices Wal-Mart! As a Wal-Mart employee I can truthfully tell you that prices on most items have gone up within the last month, and they made it a point to take down the roll back signs in our store lol.
i hear you. i have made lots of friends at my walamrts, and they tell me the same thing. this is the downward spiral of walmart.
Yeah. It was Sunday nite and I passed by the pallet and after 2 months of nothingness from DCUC. I saw a case that said “DC UNIVERSE CLASSICS FIGURES” and I ripped the plastic and grabbed the box…it was at the bottom!” I was like BWHWHHHAHHAHAHAHA, WAVE 3 is MINE and saw the # and was like Crap…wave 2 AND the Ronnie case.
Then some employee said “NO SIR! YOU CANNOT DO THAT!” and i was like…uh…lol Had flashbacks of when I got in trouble back in middle school.
I asked if I could speak to the Manager and after the manager SCOLDED me, she let me have the case. Pretty intense…wish you guys could’ve seen how pissed off they were. The Manager looked PISSED at the employee and said I TOLD YOU TO WATCH THE PALLET! lol I was like, “He didn’t see me, it’s my fault.”
Does anyone on here need Wave 2? I bought a set. I can sell it for cost plus shipping. I’m on ebay…well….under my girlfriends ebay account so the handlename is a feminine. lol

I’ve spotted quite a few of those guys and managed to pick up most of the HALO series 2 non-exclusive set save the EOD, CQB and EVA as well as Scarecrow and I am loving them.
