More Fun with Hellboy!
I know, my Hellboy obsession is getting a bit ridiculous. But I can’t help it. These toys are just all too awesome and I just can’t stop playing with them (and buying more and more of them… ). I geeked out this evening and took some silly “candlelight” pics of my favorite figs. I figured I’d share ‘em with you guys. Expand to see them all.

So awesome. I need to get that SDCC exclusive HB!
awesome awesome figures-mezcos best work ever!
exellent photos btw
The girlfriend and I went out to see Hellboy II: The Golden Army yesterday. Before seeing the movie, we went to the mall and I went in Spencer’s Gifts just to check out what figures they had. They had The Hellboy with open mouth, clinched RHOD, and sword. Not the one I wanted, and it cost $19.99 plus tax! I just couldn’t swing that, especially being that it wasn’t the one I was looking for. They also had the Heroes TV show figures at $19.99 a pop as well as Gears of War figures for $14.99. At those prices I passed on everything. After the movie, we swung by Toys R Us. I know I’ve said some harsh things about them, especially for selling a the Hellboy toys, but putting demands on Mezco (no Hellboy on package, no cigar), put I guess they made up for it. They had all the HB II figs except for Wink, and oh how I wanted them all! However I only got Hellboy. I ended up with the open mouthed figure, with open RHOD, and the Big Baby Shotgun. I figured, hey how hard would it be to make a little paper cigar and stick it between his teeth? Pretty easily done. The thing that sold it for me was the $14.99 price tag! After tax he was exactly $16 dollars! Much better than mall prices. They also had a buttload of Heroes figures at $14.99, and Gears of War for $12.99! Man did I really want those Heroes figs and Gears of War looked awesome as well! But back to Hellboy. Man I really fell in love with this figure as soon as I took it out of the package! My only complaint is that his right arm has no elbow articulation, but honestly it still works fine for the pose I knew I would end up putting him in, (The side stance holding the Samaritan up). The head sculpt, paint detail, size of the figure, weight (he isn’t made out of Hasbro plastic), the fact that his guns open up just like a real gun, his tail articulation, everything is just awesome! Totally worth $16 for the big guy!
congrats, fryman!
if you like the HBII hellboy, you should really try to get your hands on one of the HBs from the first movie. the paint and artic is even better. they’re little works of art.
i like my HBII hellboy though because he’s more fun to play with. i’m less worried about loosening his joints or messing him up. so my cloth coat HBs from the first movie are my “display pieces” and then the HBII fig is the one that goes on hikes and battles demons in the forest and what-not. that is just one very fun figure. and i agree that the missing elbow artic doesn’t hurt him much. on the figs with a joint on that arm it has a tough time holding up the RHOD anyway.
great stuff and great pics to boot. i too saw the same stuffed price tags around here and i cannot justify paying for a new hellboy that is lower quality and over priced. i just cant. wink, sure, but not the rest. HB 1 stuff is indeed better, and i hope mexco re-issues some of the older stuff. that would hype things up even more. keep them pictures coming. they are gold!
I have a hellboy, from the first movie i think, but mine has the horns grown out and he doesnt have that bulky leather jacket its black and the same material that he himself is made of. I also found HB with his cigar like a week ago.
