The Dark Knight Movie Discussion
Well, it’s time. The big one hit theatres today and I figure we’re gonna need a place to discuss the sheer awesomeness of The Dark Knight in all its Batman vs. The Joker vs. Harvey Dent vs. Two-Face vs. The Ghost of Katie Holmes awesomeness. In a summer chock full of superhero movie awesomeness, this is really probably the one to stand triumphant above all the rest. I say, bring it on.

Just saw it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE BEST DAMN SUPERHERO MOVIE EVERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heath Ledger made a LEGENDARY performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just came back from the movies, Greatest Movie ever. Its as if Bob Kane had written the part for Heath Ledger.
ah, finally, some comments in this thread! i was getting a little worried there… i was like, surely someone’s seen this!
I’ll be seeing it tomorrow morning, as is my way. you guys have only added to my already pretty intense anticipation/excitement. w00t!
Ill go monday because… is cheaper. there are rumors of oscar nominations for this movie… anyone heard something about that??
yeah, people are talking about ledger’s performance as being oscar worthy. i think it’s all a little weird. i hate to say it, but i really don’t want his death to overshadow the film. it’d be a shame if they pushed him to oscar contention just as some kind of posthumous recognition.
Heath’s Joker scared the hell out of me. It’s as if he diasapeared into the character. That’s one sick homocidal, suicidal clown.
Weird enough, one of my female friends thinks he’s “cute”. I was like, “whaat?” Harley Quinn much? *lol*
Anyway, the movie was awesome. And it’s got the best cameo ever. I’ll be seeing it again this weekend.
Yeah, i was thinking that… and is kinda sucky… i mean, by his dead, the movie got all this creppy taste, and there is people saying that” is the best performance ever”, and people that is going to said ” is good, but no for so much”…
by trailers it looks pretty good, but is a shame he died when he reaches what possible is/was the best moment of his carreer.
saru,
what cameo are you refering to? i didn’t see anyone worth noting cameo.
but i saw thew movie, and it lives up to the hype. its been so long since i have been to a movie that satisifed me and where i got my money’s worth. it was like watching two movies for one. yes, it was long, but there was no dull points- at all. that is rare in a movie.
i was really disappointed with HB2 because it started off like it was going to be good, then it flopped. dark knight was incredible from start to finish. there was so much realism, it didn’t feel like a superhero movie. there was just right amount of batman, and all the different characters.
one glaring observation about batman and commented by joker was batman’s one rule and how all the different situations in life crop up and pus us individually in the hot seat; would we do what we needed to do to save others? that’s how joker got his power and freedom, by being care-free, and that is what makes the most dangerous villans.
all out, this is a great and serious movie. i hear everybody saying its better than iron man, but its comparing oranges and apples. iron man is a good movie to escape into because it feels like a comic book world. dark knight feels real. to me, both movies are different, and great in their respective catagories. dark knight really sets the bar high, and HB2’s writers, be it del toro or mignola who really take resposibilty for such a farce of a good character, should hang their heads in shame. yes, i do think ledger should get an oscar nod for this, even the movie itself. it would be such a shae if it did get over looked like so many great movies are.
yeah, this was a GREAT movie. it was long, exhausting, emotionally draining, and just generally “tough” on the audience at times… but all of that just speaks to the resounding success of nolan’s team to create this universe so engagingly. i was very impressed. and tired and sweaty at the end of it. my roommate went with me (a chick) and she cried openly a few times. i was like, “dang… a batman movie made you cry!”
the watchmen trailer at the beginning was a nice highlight, too! dang that movie is gonna rule!
It was just an amazing movie. Ledger did an amazing performance as the Joker, and the character felt really familiar after just 30-40 minutes in. The only complaint I have is that they didn’t use Katie Holmes for Rachel, seems a little inconsistent. Besides that, it blew me away. Probably my favorite movie of 2008.
Rachel now belong to the legions of the scientology… and her soul feed the cruel god of scientology… and she cant scape from sicentology… or tom cruise…
plain_sliced,
the cameo i meant was Cillian Murphy as Scarecrow. Some say that he is wasted and that his appearance in the movie was very brief. Way I see it, that was a cameo.
I just went to see it again earlier today and it was great just as when I saw it the first time..
ah. i didn’t really consider that a cameo either. he was just reprising his role from the first film, albeit briefly. i thought you were talking about anthony michael hall as the reporter. that was more of a ‘cameo’ to me.
