SDCC 2008: Marvel

SDCC 2008 officially kicks off today, but last night was “preview night” and already Hasbro is bombarding us with protos of new Marvel Legends products. I have a feeling this is going to be a huge year for SDCC unveilings, and for action figure awesomeness in general (assuming we can actually afford all this stuff with the rising prices across the industry…). TNI and TheFwoosh each have good image galleries. Expand the post for a breakdown of what’s been announced so far.

Okay, I’m going to do my best to keep this list updated as the con progresses:

  1. Don’t forget the Nick Fury/Hand Ninja, Kree/Skrull and Johnny Storm/Susan Storm 2-Packs!

  2. aaaarrrgg!!! im going bananas!!!!!

  3. I have to admit, some of these look pretty good. especially the 2-packs. but there are still a lot of stinkers… and a lot of body reuses. hasbro lacks consistency…

  4. crossbones looks awesome so does the BAF ares, can’t wait for some online ordering ; )

  5. They look AMAZING!!!! I AM SOOOOO STOKED for the New Legends!!!! Sure there are repaints and Junk…but overalll—Amazing and well done!!! :)

My wallet is already emptying itself out in preperation.

  6. i’m looking forward to the iron man stuff. looks interesting. ares can use a more serious head sculpt in my opinion. there is a lot of stuff. like SAG says, lots of re-uses. i didn;t see the repainted mcfarlane spidey in there. my question is, how many spidermen can hasbro make? enough already.

mattel gets looked weird for having old villans in even odder costumes, but at least they are consistent. hasbro sorta got toybiz’s stuff together, all different, and bashed something together. and they didn’t even do a good job at that. instead of having a key to the patent office, its as if they are looking in the window of the patent office.

never the less, i am looking forward to the iron man stuff. the classic one looks killer.

  7. I was able to pick up Hero Movie Action Figures Black Spider-Man, both Iron Spider-Man versions (regular and clear tint) and Venom, at Wal-Mart, just 24 hours ago.

  8. 24 hours ago being September 3rd, 2008. Some sites I’ve seen have listed their release in November. I had no idea they were coming out. I was there looking for She-Hulk to complete Fin Fang Foom (never found her; got her from a retail site though).
