My lastest custom creation is a ‘classic’ version of Cable. I always felt the ML6 Cable was undersized so I’ve been wanting a bigger, beefier Cable for a while. Lately, I’ve been watching the old 90s X-Men the Animated Series on DVD and it got me jonesing for a good, classic, “Liefeldian” Cable (sans the tiny feet and head… oh Liefeld!). So, I dug through the fodder bin and pulled out pretty much every strap, buckle, and pad I could find and whipped this bad boy up. Expand the post for more pics and the recipe. (more…)

This most excellent Gorilla Grodd custom was contributed by our friend Wes at Scary-Crayon.com. It’s an exciting custom for two reasons - One, it marks the first submitted custom to be featured on SuperArticulated (ie - not made by me!); and two (and more importantly), it’s a really freakin’ great representation of one of DC’s most inventive and diabolical villains. See pics and Wes’ write-up of the big telepathic ape when you expand the post. (more…)

My most recent custom creation is a modern rendition of Madrox the Multiple Man. I’ve been hooked on Peter David’s current X-Factor series, and Jamie is just far too endearing to not have been done up yet in action figure form. His base is a TBML series 6 Movie Punisher. I popped on a TBML Giant-Man series Sentry head and did a little sculpting to smooth out his jeans and give him long sleeves. Expand the post to see all the pics. (more…)

In celebration of Christmas, I got involved with a ‘Secret Santa’ gift exchange with a group of online toy collectors at TheFwoosh. I knew my giftee was a fan of Northstar, so I wanted to try my hand at making him a fitting Marvel Legends style custom figure. And, because no Northstar is complete without his sister Aurora, I had to craft the duo. I opted to go with their ‘modern’ look, since it’s a good chance that we’ll be seeing classic versions of these characters as standard releases from Hasbro in the near future. Expand the post for more pics.

We’re kicking off a new section here at Superarticulated - Featured Customs. Basically, customizing action figures is the next logical extension of the hobby for hardcore collectors, and we’re going to endeavor to showcase the best work done by practitioners of this dark artform. Our first entry is a custom Marvel Legends style Blizzard figure - patterned after the classic C-list Iron-Man villain of Marvel comics fame (infamy?). Expand the post to see more pics of this top-notch one-of-a-kind figure (if I do say so myself). (more…)
