Mattel hit us with a little sneak attack of awesome info today on MattyCollector.com. They revealed the line-up for DCUC Wave 8 - complete with promo pics! The 8th series will include Hawkgirl, Dr. Fate, Mr. Terrific, Gentleman Ghost, Parademons, Commander Steel, and Vigilante, along with the Giganta build-a-figure. DCUC.info has packaged pics of the upcoming Toys R Us exclusive 2-Packs from DC Universe Classics. The sets are Orion and Lightray, Batgirl and Azrael, Hal Jordan and Abin Sur, and Cyborg Superman with Mongul. This was a good way for Mattel to re-release some of the harder to find old DCSH figs like Azrael and Cyborg Supes. But I’m not too keen on having to buy a duplicate of a figure already released in DCUC just to get a hold of the unique figs of Lightray and Abin Sur. Oh well… such is the plight of the store-exclusive two-pack. Scope the pics here.

Raving Toy Maniac has scooped the packaged pics of DCUC Wave 5. This is the upcoming Walmart exclusive wave that includes Amazo, Eradicator, The Atom, The Riddler, and Black Lightning, along with the the Metallo collect & connect figure. Some fans are less than impressed with the production figures, but they actually look pretty good to me. Well, except for Eradicator’s Barbie-ish looking glasses. What’s up with those? ToyNewsI.com has put up promotional / pre-sales photos of all the figs from DCUC Wave 6. Geez… I’m stoked! Hawkman is off the scale. Mr. Miracle, Dr. Impossible, Killer Moth, and Captain Marvel all look perfect. I’m even excited for the recovery-suit Superman and the classic Supes variant. And I think Kalibak is going to be my most-anticipated C&C figure so far. I love the character and that figure just looks amazing. With DCUC4 already hitting retail and DCUC5 being a Wal-Mart exclusive, I think there’s a good shot we’ll see DCUC6 at retail before Christmas.

If you’re anything like me then you’re the type of toy collector who hates wasting time and money driving around on fruitless toy runs. These days I order pretty much everything online. My saving grace so far with the DCUC line is that I can order a case online and get all five figures in the wave plus only one unnecessary extra. It makes the cost very bearable. And since I’ve never seen DCUC3 at retail and have only ever seen a couple of stray DCUC2 figures, I wouldn’t have half as many figs from this line as I do were it not for the convenience of online case ordering.
