New GI Joe 25A Pics

TNI has put up a lot of promo pics of the figures from the next two waves of GI Joe 25th Anniversary figures. I’m losing count on the series numbering on these things. I think what we’re looking at are the tenth and eleventh waves overall, but Hasbro orders them by year, so these are waves 6 and 7 for 2008. Anyways, I’m only spot-hitting the 25A line these days, but Croc Master, the Cobra Eel, and Junkyard & Mutt are all calling to me pretty strongly. Expand the post to see the full breakdown. (more…)

SDCC 2008: GI Joe

Most of what Hasbro has shown so far in regards to GI Joe was already unveiled last month at JoeCon, but they did pull out some finished product of recently announced figures. Airborne, Cobra EEL, and Croc Master are all looking pretty ace! Check out TNI’s pics to see all that was revealed at preview night.

2008 Joe Con Coverage

2008 gi joe convention logoThe 2008 Joe Con is happening in Dallas this weekend, and Hisstank.com has been providing dutiful coverage of everything Hasbro has shown so far. So far, I’m really digging what Hasbro has had to show. The specs of Dusty and the Paraviper are awesome and Quick Kick looks really good too. And I’m also digging those “extreme conditions” 7-packs. Overall, the 25th Anniversary line isn’t perfect, but I do like the direction its headed in. I just hope I’ll actually be able to afford all this new stuff in the coming year…

GI Joe 25A Comic Packs Wave 5

gi joe 25th anniversary comic packs wave 5 falcon nemesis enforcerMy enthusiasm for the 25th Anniversary GI Joe line sort of waxes and wanes depending on what is released, and what kind of mood I’m in at the time. The line seems to rely heavily on nostalgia, and the rampant repaints and releases is killing that. Hasbro recently revealed the latest (fifth) series of comic 2-packs, and like the rest of the line, some excite me and others don’t. In this assortment we’ll get Falcon and Nemesis Enforcer (exciting!) along with Destro and Iron Grenadier (eh…) and Cobra Commander and Tripwire (meh…). I wish Hasbro would knock it off with the releases in the 2-packs and just give us two unique figures per set. They’re trying to force collectors to drop ten bucks on one unique fig. Dirty dirty Hasbro! Anyways, you can see pics at YoJoe.com.

GI Joe Wave 9 Carded Pics

snow_serpent_02__scaled_600.jpgTNI has loose and carded pics of the figures from the ninth series of single packs in the GI Joe 25th Anniversary line. This series includes Joe members Barbecue, Bazooka, and General Hawk, the Cobra Snow Serpent and BAT trooper, as well as a black Storm Shadow repaint called the “Ninja-Ku Leader”. Dang… This assortment is really challenging my decision to drop this line. That Snow Serpent just looks straight up bad ass. Click here for all the pics.

GI Joe SDCC 2008 Exclusive Revealed

sdcc exclusive cobra commander gi joe action figureSo, I’ve pretty much quit collecting the GI Joe 25th Anniversary line, but it continues to roll strong and deliver a lot of great figures to hardcore Joe fans. Hasbro revealed their SDCC exclusive from the 25th Anni line today and it’s none other than Cobra Commander! Because, I mean, the nine versions of him they’ve released so far haven’t been enough! Actually, it’s not that bad. It’s CC In a business suit with a little podium and a microphone. That’s kind of cool, I guess. It’s way better than last year’s “Drag Queen Destro” or whatever that was supposed to be. Check out TNI for more info and a better pic.

25th Anniversary Wave 9 Revealed

gi joe 25th anniversary wave 9Hasbro has put out small promo images of the line-up for the ninth series of single packed figures in the GI Joe 25th Anniversary line. We’ll be getting General Hawk (in his classic bomber jacket), Barbecue, Bazooka, Snow Serpent, Cobra B.A.T., and a black Storm Shadow repaint dubbed “Ninja Ku”. This is a pretty solid assortment that features several “must haves” for a lot of Joe fans. But, since we’re only just now seeing the sixth wave at retail, I’m assuming these guys are still several months out. Expand the post for the pics. (more…)

Wal-Mart GI Joe Price Hike?

wal-mart rollback price increaseSo, I strolled into Wal-Mart last night to pick up some groceries (chocolate milk and fruity pebbles, to be exact) and as I swung by the barren toy aisle, I noticed something startling. The lone GI Joe 25th Anniversary single carded Roadblock that has been hanging there for months was tagged as “6.84″ on the peg. I figured he was just misplaced and Wal-Mart was prepping to reset the aisle or something. But, I read the peg, and it clearly said 25th GI Joe. Hmmm… So I snagged Roadblock and took him to one of those little scanner things they have at the end of the aisle. Yep. He rang up for 6.84! Just last week this very same figure was $5.48, and a couple months before that single figs were only $4.76 at Wal-Mart. That’s a 40% price increase in less than a year! (more…)

New 25th Anni GI Joe Stuff is Out

09_hiss__scaled_600.jpgThe GI Joe 25th Anniversary line has kind of taken a spot on the back burner for me of late, given all the excitement with other lines, but Hasbro continues to steadily pump out new product. The latest news is that the Target exclusive vehicle packs have been spotted - so if you’re jonesing for a HISS Tank or two, now’s the time to start hunting. TNI has pics of all of this year’s Joe vehicles here.

Also, the new TRU exclusive five-packs have been spotted. These are the set of red ninjas and the night attack repaint sets. I’m not feeling all the repaints in this line, but I know a lot of die-hard Joe fans are all about army building, and these are pretty good for that.

And - I have managed to pick up all the single figs through series six as well as the comics 2-packs through series 3 - so I have a whole box full of Joes that I need to post pics and reviews of. I’ll try to have that done sooner rather than later. Go Joe!
