NECA TMNT Mouser 3-Pack!

TMNT NECA Mouser SDCC 2008 Exclusive 3 packSo, this year’s SDCC is already shaping up to be the most expensive (in terms of awesome exclusives) ever, and now NECA has made things even worse (better) by unveiling a Mouser 3pack from their TMNT line. I’m hoping the pic to the left is an early sort of promo deal and not the final shot. I really hope these guys get done up with some articulation. At least poseable hips, knees, and ankles… and, of course, some working jaw action! NECA has a complete release on these here.

Superarticulated… Alien!

aliencomp4.jpgSo, now that we’re in the era of making every action figure as poseable as possible, we’re seeing a lot of interesting properties pop up with superarticulated figures - like the recent TMNT and BSG and Ninja Gaiden figs and what-not. And now NECA has busted out with a super-poseable Alien figure that stands 9″ tall and boasts 20 points of articulation! I’m pretty darn impressed with this thing. NECA is fast becoming one of my new favorite toy companies! See more pics at NECA’s site.

The 4H at NYCC

four horsemen design studiosNY Comic Con kicks off today, and the Four Horsemen (aka - superheroic action figure design celebrities) have issued a little advanced press release to get us all excited for their showing at the con. They have good news for those us who are still waiting on the FANtastic Exclusive 2 “Anitherian Nine” figures - they’re almost here! And the 4H will be unveiling the first figure from their latest fan-choice “Gothitropolis” series. And, since the 4H are the guys who make all our awesome DCUC and TMNT figs, I’m sure they’ll have lots of other cool stuff to show too (including some rumors surrounding new Master of the Universe merchandise… Hmmmmm…)

For those of you who aren’t terribly familiar with the 4H or their “Fantastic Exclusives”, expand the post for my summary. (more…)

Superarticulated Ninja Gaiden!

prototype of NECA ninja gaiden figureOh my… So, apparently after the fall of ToyBiz/Marvel Toys, NECA has decided to step up and carry the torch of the superarticulated action figure! Evidently, their super-poseable TMNT line wasn’t an anomaly. Check out this fantabulous prototype of Ryu from their upcoming Ninja Gaiden line! (How does AFI keep getting all these great scoops?!) Does that articulation look familiar to you? Double knees, double elbows, ab crunch, ball hips, ball shoulders - he’s got it all… ToyBiz style! Man… I am REALLY liking how the specialty companies are stepping up the articulation on their figures. Now is a great time to be an action figure collector!

And, today kicks off NYCC, so I’m betting we’re going to be seeing lots of exciting new product from NECA and other companies like them. w00t!

Halo 3 Series 3 Bonanza!

halo 3 series 3 brute war chieftainGood grief! Spawn.com just put up the full coverage of series 3 of their Halo 3 line - complete with a full listing all the different Spartan armor permutations, paint colors, and store exclusives. It’s a tad overwhelming (14 different Spartans, 11 of which are exclusives…)! The standard figures will include a new Brute “War” Chieftain, the Jackal Major, the Flood, yet another Master Chief, and the first Elite Multi-Player fig. But beyond that, we’ll see hoards of Spartans. Hoards!

There’s really no sense in me even trying to list all the different armor types and colors. You’ll just have to click the link. The bummer is that several of these are going to difficult (impossible) to get. Especially the international exclusives that won’t be available in the U.S. It’s like McFarlane is just trying to make this line frustrating for completists!

4″ Hellboy 2 Figs? Interesting…

4? mezco hellboy II liz figureOkay, this is interesting. And I think it’s a trend we’re going to start seeing a lot of. A couple months ago, Mezco unveiled the first series of Hellboy 2 movie figs. They were six inch scale and superarticulated, as we’ve come to expect from the “standard” action figure these days. Now, Mezco is showing off a secondary, 4″ line that is essentially just a scaled-down version of the bigger figs. TNI has the pics of all the figures in the new, smaller line. (more…)

Sneak Peek: Halo 3 Series 3

halo 3 series 3The line-up for the third series of Halo 3 figures from McFarlane Toys has been posted online for a while now, but the first teaser images have just shown up. I’m uber-excited about this line. It just seems to keep getting better! The third series will bring us yet another version of Master Chief, the “Hayabusa” armor spartan, a jackal major, a weapon class brute, a “recon” armor spartan, and a flood form. Super-neato! I hope the flood gets some artic though. In this pic he’s looking like a statue. Hmmm…

NECA TMNT Packaged Pics!

NECA TMNT Packaged PicsSo, I don’t know if you guys have been keeping up with NECA’s TMNT line, but it’s really shaping up to deliver us the best superarticulated figures of the year. I’m not even that big of a fan of the turtles and I have to admit that these are looking jaw-droppingly awesome. The only knock I have against them is that they’re not out yet! But, I think we’re only about a month away from their release date at this point and TNI has posted a whole slew of excellent in-package pics. You can buy the four turtles either individually or all together in a box set. The individual figures come packed with display bases and a few extra accessories that you won’t get in the box set, so they’re the way to go for fans who “want it all”. Check out TNI’s pics to whet your TMNT appetite, and if you want to preorder a set then visit BBTS.com or CornerStoreComics.com!

2008 NY Toy Fair Coverage - Indie

neca’s tmn april o’neill figureThe news for smaller, independent toy lines was a mixed bag of great and not-so-great. The saddest news was the official cancellation of the Legendary Comic Book Heroes line by Marvel Toys. While losing LCBH was a pretty sad (albeit, expected) blow, there are still plenty of smaller collector-oriented companies ramping up their superarticulated offerings this year! Expand the post to find out all about it. (more…)
