Walmart HML Price Increase

Okay, so Target kind of raped us by jumping their HML exclusive wave from 9.99 to 14.99 a pop and we all freaked. We knew a price increase was coming but I don’t think anyone expected it to be that much. Well, Walmart has followed suit by implementing their own price increase on Hasbro’s Marvel Legends, but it’s nothing compared to Target’s toy aisle robbery.

The HML two-packs have gone from 19.96 to 21.88.

The HML Fin Fang Foom wave figures have gone from 14.96 to 15.76.

No confirmation yet since Walmart isn’t presently stocking any regular figs outside the Foom wave, but I’m guessing standard Legends will now be somewhere in the 10.76 - 10.96 range. Walmart’s price increase is much more in line with what I expected. DCUC has already gone to 11 dollars per figure and I assumed that’s where Hasbro’s stuff would fall as well. It would seem Target really is just gouging us of their own accord.

Iron Man Movie Figs Series 3

Iron Man Action Figure Atmospheric Diving Armorw00t! Hasbro has revealed the third series of Iron Man movie figures and we’ve finally gotten the Iron Man repaint we’ve all been waiting for - Atmospheric Diving Iron Man! Oh yes! An Iron Man cast out in turquoise / aqua-marine colors and outfitted with flippers and scuba gear! Because if there’s anything Iron Man needs to increase his maneuverability underseas - it’s freakin’ flippers! There’s also a “Heavy Artillery” Iron Man that actually looks sort of cool. And then there’s a blue version of Iron Monger and a gold version of the Mark I armor. But those all pale in comparison to scuba Iron Man, obviously. Anyways, check out the pics at Marvelousnews.com.

HML Target Exclusive Red Hulk Wave

For a variety of reasons I’ve made the decision to no longer buy Hasbro’s Marvel Legends. As such, going forward I’ll continue to try to do the legwork on linking up other good sites that have pics and/or reviews of new Marvel Legends releases, but you won’t see any more pics or reviews of Marvel figs on this site (unless I decide to go back and retro-actively review the old ToyBiz figs).

Marvellegends.net is pretty much the web’s preeminent source for outstanding photography of any and all figs that are released as part of the Marvel Legends line. They recently put up their outstanding pics of the Target Exclusive Red Hulk BAF wave. ML.Net doesn’t do reviews, per se, but pictures do speak a thousand words.

The only note I’d like to make is that these figures retail at 14.99 each. That is the number one reason why I’m not picking them up. So, the SA opinion is Value = Baaaad.

SDCC 2008: Marvel

SDCC 2008 officially kicks off today, but last night was “preview night” and already Hasbro is bombarding us with protos of new Marvel Legends products. I have a feeling this is going to be a huge year for SDCC unveilings, and for action figure awesomeness in general (assuming we can actually afford all this stuff with the rising prices across the industry…). TNI and TheFwoosh each have good image galleries. Expand the post for a breakdown of what’s been announced so far. (more…)

New Target Excl. Marvel Legends Pics

target exclusive hasbro marvel legends red hulk seriesOkay, so we now understand that HML series 4 is a Wal-Mart exclusive wave that comes out in December, and three months before that in September we’ll get series 5 as a Target exclusive wave. Sigh. Anywho, MarvelousNews has new promo pics of the figures from the Target wave and, gasp, they don’t look too bad. Well, Adam Warlock suffers from Hasbro-ticulation but the others are alright. I’m especially digging on Union Jack. Peep the pics.
