Our very own Plain_Sliced is back to treat us to another one of his imaginative creations! This time p_s decided to put together a cleverly stylized “Manga” version of everyone’s favorite web-slinger Spider-Man. To accomplish this task, he grafted the heads, hands, and feet of ToyBiz’ Spiderman Classics Series 5 Manga Spiderman onto the superposeable body of a Takara Microman Batman figure. The end result turned out fantastic! This is one awesome little Manga Spidey! Expand to scope the pics.
If you read my review you’ll know that I love the new Mezco Liz Sherman figure from the Hellboy II movie line, but I was less than impressed with her articulation. Bicep and thigh cuts are a must for me, so I snagged an extra Liz from TRU the other day and then set about butchering her up by cutting off her arms and legs and giving her some extra jointage. I dremelled in wells in her shoulders and thigh into which I plugged screws that I put in the opposite end of the limb to act as a peg. Although things are off a little bit, it turned out remarkably well and… well, it actually worked! Expand for more pics.
Well, it’s time. The big one hit theatres today and I figure we’re gonna need a place to discuss the sheer awesomeness of The Dark Knight in all its Batman vs. The Joker vs. Harvey Dent vs. Two-Face vs. The Ghost of Katie Holmes awesomeness. In a summer chock full of superhero movie awesomeness, this is really probably the one to stand triumphant above all the rest. I say, bring it on.
TNI has promo pics up from the second series of figures from Mezco’s movie line for Hellboy II: The Golden Army. We’ll be getting a coatless Hellboy, a wounded Hellboy, Princess Nuala, the legless Goblin guy, and the freaky looking Angel of Death. These figs all look pretty great, but I have reservations about the articulation. Fewer statues, more superposeable figs, Mezco! Also, sadly, these aren’t due out until November, which is too long of a wait if you ask me. Anyways, check the pics here.
If you guys are bored and you want to register and play around with it and see if you can break it, that’d be cool. I’ll put more time into it later (when I have time) but for now I figured I’d just throw it up there and let you guys help me figure out if it works or not.
Thanks!
Marvel Legends Hulk series with Fin Fang Foom BAF - Yep. These have been showing up at TRUs and Wal-Marts for a few weeks now, so they should be out in full force by this point. There have been some isolated sightings at Targets, but I’d say your best bet is with Toysaurus or Wally World.
Also, the new two-packs have just started showing up; the Ultimate Cap and Nick Fury, Elektra and Ronin, Wolvie and Forge, and Thing and Mr. F sets. So far I’ve only heard of them being found at Wal-Mart.
The Dark Knight Movie Masters Wave 2 - Yep. This is the series with the Scarecrow and the Batman Begins version of Batman. I’ve been hunting these pretty aggressively for the past week with no luck. So far, Wal-Mart seems to be the place to find these.
Halo 3 Series 2 - My enthusiasm for this line has really waned in the long gap since series 1 was released but I got my Gamestop exclusive steel colored ODST Spartan in the mail the other day and it sucked me back in. These are showing up at Gamestops, Wal-Marts, and TRUs nationwide.
GI JOE - The 9th series of single packs with Barbecue, Bazooka, Snow Serpent, General Hawk, and the Cobra B.A.T. is out. I’m pretty psyched for this wave. It’s a good line-up and it’s full of personal favorites from the Joe-verse.
Alright. Good hunting!
And I’ve also picked up the animated Hellboy figs from Gentle Giant and reviewed them here.
And what’s in the mail for next week? That’s right. Comic Hellboy figures…
I have the sickness…
