Halo 2009: Wave 2 - Equipment Edition

Well, McFarlane is showing that they’re pretty darn committed to flooding toy aisle shelves with Halo product next year. They’ve unveiled the 2nd series of 2009’s “equipment edition” of the line - which basically just means the same figs we’ve been getting already but packed in with more weapons and armament from the game! I’m all about some value add, so the equipment edition is aces for me. The second series will include a ton of Spartan repaints in a variety of colors and armor permutations, as well as the all-new human Marine and Elite Assault form. I’m pretty psyched for this line. Check out all the pics and the full listing of figs from this assortment over at TNI.

SAG is on Hiatus!

Greetings loyal SA readers!

Well, I have some bad news. As you all know, the U.S. economy is in a downward spiral, and because of rising oil costs and general inflation toy collecting has become very expensive of late. Add to that the diminished quality of my favorite line (Marvel Legends) and the attrocious distribution of other lines (DCUC, Halo 3) and suddenly the rewards just aren’t worth the effort where toys are concerned.

Also, I’ve just been really busy lately with… life. As such, I’ve hit a sort of crossroads. I feel like right now I need to be saving what money I have instead of spending it on action figures. I know that’s a bummer, but it is what it is. So for now I’m putting SA on hiatus. When I have the time/money/resources to get back into the swing of things I’ll pick it back up with the news and reviews, but for now you’ll probably see the site kind of “limp” along. Sorry about that!

Until SA is recharged and ready to roll, you can still get your superarticulated action figure fill at various other sites around the web.

For your Marvel Legends needs just hit Marvellegends.net.

For DCUC check out DCUC.info.

For GI Joe you can always rely on JoeBattleLines.com.

And for all the cool indie stuff out there just browse the forums at TheFwoosh.com to stay up to speed.

As always, the SA Bulletin Board will remain open for anyone who wants to pop in and chat or trade.

Sorry guys. I really appreciate all that each of you has contributed to this site over the past year or so. I don’t want you to feel like I’m giving up on you/toys/onlinefun. I’m not going anywhere. I just can’t really afford new toys these days!

Customizer extraordinaire DDA is back and this time he’s sharing with us a whole host of uber-awesome superarticulated custom figs. DDA customized the entire freakin’ Justice League of America (well, the founding members at least)! We’ve got Superman, Batman, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman. Each fig is in “Marvel Legends” style with high-end articulation, and they sport DDA’s crips and clean paint jobs. This is one fantastic looking group of figs! Nice work, DDA! See more of DDA’s work in his threads at TheFwoosh and FigureRealm. Expand the post to see pics and recipes of the JLA. …read full article…

Iron Man Movie Wave 5 Revealed

Marvelousnews.com has put up Hasbro’s promo images of the fifth wave of Iron Man movie figures. This set includes Iron Man War Machine, Battle Monger, Iron Man Mark II Quick Change, Inferno Armor Iron Man, and Subterranean Armor Iron Man. I’m not sure how we got to wave 5 because the last set I remember seeing was wave 3. But, whatever… maybe I’m just off on my numbering. The point is, we get a frickin’ rock-crushing “Subterranean Armor” Iron Man in this wave! He’ll look great up on the shelf next to my aquamarine flipper-attak deep-sea diving Iron Man from wave 3!

HML Ares Wave Pics

Marvellegends.net has updated their super-amazing action figure photo gallery with pics of all the figs from the new Walmart exclusive Hasbro Marvel Legends Ares build-a-figure wave. This series includes Crossbones, Guardian, Vision, Kang, Human Torch, Spider-Man, Ultimate War Machine, and Heroes Reborn Iron Man. This is a pretty nice wave but its dependence on repaints and its tough-to-find exclusivity have me on the fence about it. I’ll probably at least snag Crossbones, Kang, and Guardian (assuming I ever actually see them in stores…). Anyways, check out the pics on Marvellegends.net to whet your appetite for some new Marvel Legends goodness.
